Brent's Birthday Trip - Packing It All In!
Well there was a lot to see and do and in true Sheffield-form
we did our very best to get to it all. Durango is a beautifully
preserved little Old West town complete with its famous
railroad that boasts a small fleet of authentic smoke-belching
steam trains.
Nestled in the Rockies, Durango resides at 6500 feet and
provided the perfect escape from the Texas heat.
Picture Postcard Trip
Well, it is Colorado after all and you can look just about
anywhere and find something worthy of a photo.
The Depot
The grounds are immaculately kept which adds to the
general charm of both the railroad and the station.
The Historic Hotel Downtown
We chose to stay about 25 minutes outside of
town, but had a great time exploring this place.
Cyprus
We had dinner here our last night. The food
was excellent and the place reminded Kate of
Nantucket.
The Main Drag
And we do mean drag. There were people on motorcycles
everywhere. The mountain roads are obviously a favorite
for anyone on a bike.
Strolling Through Town
The weather could not have been more conducive for
walking around and exploring this little town and all the
funny little shops on its main street.
El Patio
Our first night, a bit pooped from the trip and the altitude,
we wandered over to have a great meal and listen to some
live music (the dome you are looking at is the back of the
stage.)
Our Annual Tarmac Photo
Our first year together it was in South Africa, last year in
Mexico and this year it was Denver.
