Is That Man Made?
Well it is shaped like a pyramid and at first it's hard to tell, but
save the rock on the very top, this is an entirely nature-created
piece of art.
Durango has hot springs all throughout the area and this one
is located just off the road at a rest stop.
The deposits in the water make for some spectacular colors in
this natural fountain.
What the heck is that thing?
We finally asked and found that it was a hot spring - so we
stopped and sure enough, though the air was quite cool,
the water bubbling from the ground was lovely and warm!
All the colors of the rainbow
The soil in the are is rich with minerals - thus
all the mining that used to take place - but it's
also visible in the colors in this formation.
All That Brown is Deposit
And it's actually hard - like rock - it's quite
amazing.
A sheet of mineral deposits
This is the view from the fountain itself - the ground is hard
with deposits and mottled with color.
No it's not blood...
But we could imagine legends being started
because of something like this.
