Built Against The Wind and The Pirates!

No, we aren't making that up either. The little town of Mykonos is
only a walking village, but the streets are very narrow and a
veritable web. The town was built in such a way to protect it from
the harsh winds of the sea as well as the pirates that roamed
the seas.  We can see how the plan must have worked.

The other thing we found interesting is that they paint where the
"grout" would be on the streets - to make it look more
picturesque. The funniest part is that they will paint it where they
wish the grout would be - not necessarily where the edges of the
stones really are!
A Densely Populated Little Place
It's hard to see that there are even walkways - let alone
streets.
The Paraportiani Church
This interesting structure is the most famous church on
the island and right in the town itself.
Painted Stones
Here you can see how narrow the streets are
as well as the painting of the grout..
Venice?
No, we're not in Italy, but this part of the town is known as
Little Venice because of how the buildings go to the water
No, it's not a post card, Brent really took this!
Smile In Your Holiday
That's what the sign said - and we certainly took the idea
to heart and then some. We ate here both nights.
A typical street
It took us 20 minutes to find an ice cream
store less than 30 yards away - it was a fun
confusing place.
Another View of Little Venice
Did We Mention The Stairs?
Oh yeah, and they paint those as well. It's a
hilly environment - and they used it well.
The Hotel Adonis
We liked these guys - they gave us the honeymoon
suite...for cheap!
