The Rich Colors Of The Caribbean
We could not bring ourselves to come straight back from such
a wonderful trip to Greece, so we took some time on the way
home and spent a day in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
We stayed in the Old Town and explored the rich area by foot.
We stayed at the Hotel El Convento which is the same hotel
Kate's parents stayed when they visited thirty years ago.
Old Town San Juan
You can see the rich colors of this town.
Inside the hotel
Hotel El Convento was truly beautiful - both inside and
out. The morning we left we had a chance to sit in the
courtyard.
Hotel El Convento
Kate's folks stayed here when they visited
Puerto Rico 30 years ago in 1976!
The Former Convent
The building has much of its original charm -
built over 100 years ago as a convent.
There was amazing color - everywhere we went
You can see it here in the square that is right in front of
our hotel and the church next door.
Around Old Town
Many of the old fortress walls are still standing.
View from our hotel room
View of the cathedral from our hotel
It would make sense to have a cathedral
right next to the convent, no?
