Amazing Sites Of Houston, Texas
The San Jacinto Monument stands 570 feet above the
battleground where men fought for Texas independence. Built
to commemorate the centennial of the battle, it is the tallest
masonry structure in the world.
The monument has an elevator which takes you to the top
where there is a small observation area. It was a beautiful day,
so we had a wonderful view.
San Jacinto Monument
A lot like the Washington Monument and its reflecting pool.
View From The Top Of The Monument
You can see the reflection pool along with
Battleship Texas in the background.
Prairie Grass With Hardwood Forest
This is similar to the view the Texan and Mexican armies
saw as the battle unfolded.
Lynchburg Ferry
We could see the Lynchburg Ferry from the observation
area in the monument.
