Minute Maid Stadium

We watched the Houston Astros pull out a win against the Los
Angeles Dodgers in the last play of the bottom of the ninth.  It
was an exciting game and a ton of fun.

While we were in Houston this time we managed to visit three
other "attractions," and to recreate a childhood game to boot.

We Route, Route, Route For The Home Team...
We celebrate with the rest of the fans after the game.
Retractable Roof
Because of Houston's rather erratic weather, they built this
stadium with a fully retractable roof.  There was a chance of
rain so it was closed for the game.
The Orange Train
Part of the stadium is built from Houston's old
train station, so an old steam train carrying
oranges is a fitting symbol of the Astros' new
home.
A Room With A View
It's a wild thing to have a whole baseball stadium inside.
Fireworks For The Win
When Astos took it in the bottom of the ninth fireworks spat
out from the train and the bored conductor finally got to
drive the train.  Here the smoke from the fireworks still
hangs in the air..
A Little Too Close There
Though it looks like it, Brent did not take this photo - just a
fan who was sitting next to us and didn't think to lean back.
Smokin' Baby
The smoke in the air was just too wild not to photograph.
