Birthday Surprise in Las Vegas

Brent, the super-schemer, did it again and surprised Kate for
her birthday by flying her to Las Vegas to see the show "O". But
of course one surprise would never be enough, so he enticed
Kate's family to join the celebration! We stayed at the Bellagio
Hotel which is the most expensive hotel ever built in the world
(or so we read). We can say, however, the hotel is finished with
beautiful materials and the lobby ceiling is adorned in a
breathtaking display of 2,000 hand-blown glass flowers - the
Fiori di Como, created by world-renowned artist, Dale Chihuly.

Well, no trip to Vegas would be complete
without a visit to the Palace baby!

The Group At Kate's Birthday Dinner
Everyone enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Aqua Knox
Restaurant inside the Venetian Hotel.  The ceilings at the
Venetian are every bit as amazing as you have heard and
the canals with the singing gondoliers are simply a hoot.
Best of all, they have gelato that actually tastes like it's from
Italy!

We stop for a picture outside the circular
glass wine cellar of the Aqua Knox Restaurant.
Kate In Front Of The Bellagio
The angle of this picture gives you the feeling
we could be in Italy.  This lagoon has a
fountain that creates an amazing water
display which they set to beautiful Italian
opera - only in Vegas!
O
Kate had wanted to see the Circque du Soleil show entitled
"O" ever since she first heard about it in 1996.  The
performance combined the company's famous acrobatics
with a swimming pool, creating a three dimensional
"platform" that certainly didn't disappoint.  It was
breathtaking and a blast!
The Conservatory At The Bellagio Hotel
The Conservatory is famous for being decorated for the
season.  When we were there, it was dressed for the
Chinese New Year; 2005 is the year of the rooster - thus
the 20 feet tall, animatronic foul.
From Italy to France by turning 180 degrees
The Paris is located directly across the street from the
Bellagio. Inside, it features a "Parisian" street complete
with boulangeries, "outdoor" cafés and "live" copper
statutes.
