More Beauty In Unexpected Places

On our way back to Dallas from a particularly lovely weekend
spent with Grandmother, John and Christy Sheffield, we
decided to stop in Oklahoma City to stretch our legs and take a
look around.

We came across this "Riverfront" area which has been
beautifully landscaped and runs through a new development of
restaurants and movie theaters. It was utterly delightful.

We then made the trek across town to visit the memorial built
to commemorate one of the largest terrorist attacks on native
soil, second only to 911: it is better known simply as The
Oklahoma City Bombing.

Bridging the River
Several beautiful little bridges cross this river that has a
neat walking path on either side.
Taxi!!!
We did not partake, but did watch the water taxis ferry
people up and down this river-canal as it snaked its way
through downtown Oklahoma City.
Not Ready For The Wagon Train
Pippin was nonplussed - not to mention not
pleased - to be riding on the back of a giant
wagon statue dedicated to the famous
Sooners.
The Perils Of Crossing The River
This enormous statue accompanies three others.
Together they symbolize the first settlers' treacherous
journey to Oklahoma and their efforts to tame the land.
Further Up Stream
Everything about the area has been done with an eye
toward beauty and serenity.  This waterfall helps drown out
the din of the nearby freeway.
