Niagara Falls
Independence day found us traveling first to the great state of
Philadelphia and then venturing through New York, across the
boarder to Niagara Falls.
Kate had not yet seen this "Wonder of the World" and the trip
did not disappoint. Perhaps the most astounding part was just
how quiet and serene the water is leading up to the falls. It
really just looks like a wide stream rather than the pathway to
the largest waterfall on the planet.
Before you balk at our Pittsburgh destination, click through the
pictures here and see if you don't want to make the trek to the
former City of Steel.
Picture Postcard Trip
We enjoyed perfect weather and maneuvered around some
pretty healthy crowds to do and see a lot while we were in
the Niagara Falls area.
The Dish
Glad the dish ran away with the spoon.
The View From Our Room
We stayed at a hotel with a great view of the falls. This
picture was taken from our room which had a sitting area
with a fireplace to enjoy this view.
The Spoon
Kate's mom collects silver spoons, so we
thought we would pick one up.
The American Falls Behind Us
We pose in front of the smaller of the falls known as the
American Falls.
Cave Of The Winds
The Niagara Falls State Park on the American side of the
falls has this up close view of the fall along these wooden
walkways. This shot was taken from a viewpoint at the
fall's edge.
The American Falls
In the background you can see the bridge
that connects the US and Canada.
Dinner At The Keg With A Great Falls View
We had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant called "The Keg"
which had a great view of the falls. The "fog" behind us is
actually the back splash from the falls!
The Falls At Night
The falls are illuminated at night. The orange ball in the sky
is a hot air balloon that provides riders with a unique view
of the falls.
Tightrope Walker
Jay Cochrane walks from the Fallsview Casino to the
Skylon Tower each Saturday and we got to watch him
during dinner. Apparently he makes the trip twice every
Saturday and the money he raises through donations he
gives to charity. The kicker...he's 65 years old!
