Cha-Cha-Changes!
Sawyer received a kiddie phone for his birthday and he
immediately knew exactly what it was and how to use it. He
flipped it open and placed it to his ear. We were perplexed
given neither of us has a flip phone, we rarely talk on the
phone and because we usually use our Bluetooth hands
free option when in the car.
This week in particular there were just so many firsts -
almost as if he knew that he had hit an iconic milestone in
his little life.
Sawyer loves books and story time at school, but this week
he not only started bringing books to have read to him (Star
Wars Cookbook was the most interesting) he started
"reading" books to himself and school reports that he read
a book to one of the babies in the infant classroom - they
were sorry not to catch it on film - so were we.
He loves the push toy at school, but can also set it upright
when it's been turned over, so it's on its wheels and he can
play with it.
This week he indicated that he understands that the word
(and sign) "more" is not only applied to wanting more food,
but that it also means "again." He wanted to read "more"
and play with the ball "more."
At Sawyer's one-year checkup, he weighed 25.5 lbs. and
was 31.5 inches tall which puts him in the 90th percentile
for height, 85th percentile for weight and he was in the 70th
percentile for head circumference. Doctor now indicates he
is "tall, proportioned with a pin head."
It's hard to believe it's been a year and then again we can't
(nor do we want to) imagine life without him. There is
nothing better in the world than to see that little face light up
when he sees us and comes toddling over.

"Sit Like A Gentleman"
Sawyer loves mealtime and he gets so excited that he can't
help himself, he wants to stand up. We are trying to teach
him that gentlemen sit down when they eat - but it's a bit of
an uphill battle with our spirited little chap.
