Brent's Birthday, Tennis And Late Night Dining

We started the week with Brent's birthday "party" that was
supposed to be at a Rock Climbing Gym but had to be
changed at the last minute to Main Event. The latter ended
up working extremely well - as Sawyer could not have been
more excited to jump from one game to the next game - we
didn't need a single quarter!

Sawyer wants to do everything that Daddy does and this
week he made up his mind he wanted to go and play tennis
with Daddy. So Sawyer went and got on his "tennis shirt"
and then got his racket and was quite disappointed to find
that he still had to go and take his bath and let Daddy go...

Sawyer continues to wake up in the middle of the night
hungry. We do our best to be sure that he gets a good snack
before bed, but he almost invariably comes quietly into
Mommy and Daddy's room at about 3:30-4:00 wanting
"breakfast." If we are lucky, ignoring him will just mean a
body crawling over us to sleep in the middle of the bed...at
least until he decides he can't sleep and still needs
breakfast.

Sawyer has taken to "playing teacher" and letting us know
that we "need to pay attention." We feel "well organized' by
our little man. One of the sweeter things we've really noticed
is Sawyer has the ability to sense a situation and whether
someone needs encouragement or help. This week at swim
lessons his little pal Peyton was afraid to even go and get
changed. Sawyer was very encouraging, telling his pal,
"Come on, Peyton, it'll be fun. Come on, let's go with your
mommy." We've noticed him do that in other areas as well.
Like encouraging Buzz Light Year to jump into the bathtub
and swim to the wall, or offering Pippin some Cherrios.

Best of all, if he thinks you are upset for whatever reason,
he'll come up, put his little hand on your back, look up at you
and say, "It's okay (Mommy), it's okay. Don't worry." And of
course, he's right!
